Need to talk now? The National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare, is free on 0808 8020 133, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with live chat at gamcare.org.uk. You do not need to be in crisis to call.
Gambling is for adults only
You must be 18 or over to gamble online in the UK. If you share a phone, tablet or laptop with children or teenagers, do not save casino logins in the browser, and consider the parental controls built into iOS, Android and Windows.
Warning signs worth taking seriously
- Chasing losses: depositing again to win back what you have just lost.
- Using money meant for rent, bills, food or debt repayments.
- Borrowing, using credit or selling things to keep playing.
- Hiding how much time or money you spend from people close to you.
- Feeling restless, low or irritable when you are not gambling.
- Playing longer than planned, regularly, or late into the night.
One of these is a reason to set a limit. Several are a reason to talk to someone. BeGambleAware has a short self-assessment if you want a quick, private check.
Tools to look for in your casino account
Most online casinos offer controls in the account or responsible gaming section. Before you deposit at Trixino Casino or anywhere else, find where these sit and set them first. Exact options and cooling-off periods vary, so check the current T&Cs and help pages on the casino site.
| Tool | What it does | Good habit |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | Caps how much you can pay in per day, week or month | Set it before your first deposit, not after a bad session |
| Loss or wager limit | Caps net losses or total stakes over a period | Pair it with your deposit limit |
| Reality check | Pops up at set intervals with time played and amount spent | Every 30 minutes is a sensible start |
| Time-out | Blocks access for a short period, such as a day or a few weeks | Use it when you notice you are chasing |
| Self-exclusion | Closes access for months or years | Combine with blocking software and bank blocks |
Our article on deposit limits, time-outs and reality checks walks through how to use them, and our sign-up guide shows where to set limits from day one.
Blocks that work outside the casino
Bank gambling blocks
Many UK banks and card providers, including Monzo, Starling and Barclays, let you block card payments to gambling merchants from within their app. Some add a delay before the block can be lifted. It is one of the most effective barriers available, because it works across every site at once.
Blocking software
Tools such as Gamban or BetBlocker stop gambling sites loading on your devices. BeGambleAware and GamCare both list options, some of them free.
GAMSTOP
GAMSTOP is a free national scheme that lets you self-exclude from online gambling businesses licensed in Great Britain for six months, one year or five years. Be clear about its limits: GAMSTOP only covers operators licensed by the UK Gambling Commission. If a casino does not hold a British licence, GAMSTOP will not block it. Check whether a site participates before relying on it, and use bank blocks and software alongside it. Our safety and licensing page shows how to check an operator's licence.
